Jefferson Farms consists of 5 acres of irrigated pasture and hay fields. We stress the quality of environment we are able to provide our alpacas. The animals are pastured all day, and are brought into the barns and corrals at night. We have had quite a few wonderful babies, with the latest 3 boys having herd-sire potential! We pride ourselves on offering a quality breeding program included with all females sold by our farm. Our blood lines include two blue ribbon fleece winners at Estes Park in 1999, and a spectacularly dense grey/brown chilean male of North American stock, breeding aggressively at age 2. The young herdsires are pure peruvian and peruvian crosses, none were imported. We breed for quality of fleece, conformation, and color. Jefferson Farms maintains a breeding herd of 12 females and 4 unrelated herdsires to maximize your choices of offspring, and breeding options. At Jefferson Farms, we use companion/guard llamas raised with the alpacas. We plan to offer 1 such llama per year, for sale. These llamas are wonderful companions and “aunties” to the baby alpacas. Our mama-llama often let the other babies nurse from her next to her own daughter. We look forward to your visit, and the chance to share our love for the gentle alpacas.
